Features

  • Absorbs environmental heat and transfers it to the water, at the same time cooling and dehumidifying the ambient air
  • With an 80-gallon tank, more energy is created through the heat pump technology, resulting in larger savings
  • Four operation modes: high efficiency, hybrid, electric and vacation
  • User-friendly LCD display for easy interaction

How much is it costing - Not to Go Solar now?

If you are like most people your average electric bill is about $150 to $200 a month, maybe a little more. Now add to the equation that projections by the energy industry state that your costs will double every ten years. So over twenty years $150 becomes $600 and $200 becomes $800. Over twenty years you will likely be spending well over $100,000 just to rent your electricity. Additionally, the need for electricity will only increase with all the hybrid and electric vehicles being produced, so creating your own clean energy is the clear choice and today it is not only affordable but one of the best investments available. With present incentives, rebates and tax credits, you can save 40% to 50% off the cost of installing a solar system. If your solar system is properly sized, solar can pay for itself in as little as 5 to 7 years, with a return of investment (ROI) of 18% to 24%. What other investment returns your principle and at the same time eliminates a large recurring monthly bill. How much not having solar is costing you is specific to each situation but let's just say it is costing you a great deal.

How California is helping!

In California's New Solar Homes Partnership, a solar home is a highly energy efficient home that uses photovoltaic (or PV) modules to generate electricity from the sun. While the science to convert sunlight directly into electricity has been around for decades, in recent years both the technology and economics have improved for photovoltaics, and now systems are becoming mainstream. Currently, California has tens of thousands of homeowners enjoying the benefits of solar on their homes.

If you are a builder or an owner presently building a new home, California provides sizeable savings for installation of a solar system during construction. Presently the homeowner rebate is $2.50 per watt under the New Solar Home Partnership. That would amount to a $12,500 rebate for an average size 5KW system. Add to that the tax rebate and you can reduce the total cost of a solar system by up to 50%.

Plus...

A solar home with high energy-efficiency features offers homeowners:

  • Clean, renewable energy
  • Utility bill savings
  • Predictable utility costs
  • Protection against future rising electricity costs

Save Money - Go Solar!

Reduce utility bills.
Using California's abundant sunshine, homeowners save money on their bills through new energy efficient solar homes.

Coupling energy efficiency with solar technology reduces the homeowner's total energy needs and reduces utility bills.

Get paid for energy efficiency.
Homes from builders participating in the New Solar Homes Partnership are at least 15 percent more efficient than current building standards.

Builders are also encouraged to achieve 30 percent greater efficiency. California's utilities may offer additional incentives to help meet these efficiency levels.

Protect against rising energy costs.
Energy efficiency and solar energy give homeowners more energy independence because they are better protected against rising energy costs.

Solar homes generate power when electricity is the most expensive.

Earn tax credits.
Solar homes also qualify for a federal income tax credit. Energy efficiency measures may qualify the home for an additional $2,000 in federal tax credits.

Save the Environment - Go Solar!

Best of all, buying an efficient solar home is one of the most significant personal actions one can take to cut air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, while helping to conserve precious energy resources for future generations. Plus, it reduces the need for costly new power plants.

Solar homeowners can be assured that their solar system works because they are backed with a 10-year system warranty. PV modules are warranted to last 20 years or more. Plus, the solar system must be tested and perform up to specifications before anyone can collect the incentive money from the NSHP.

Solar System Owners

Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) produced from solar systems in the state of California are expected to have monetary value soon. One REC is created for every 1 MWh (or 1,000 kWh) of renewable electricity generation, regardless of what is consumed. Recently approved legislation will allow utilities to purchase RECs from your solar customers in order to comply with their Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) requirements.

REC Info Update

Milholland Electric has partnered with the Leaf Exchange who provides REC market education, WREGIS registration services, and provides a simple way for customers to sell their RECs for income

  • There is no cost and no risk for having Leaf Exchange register your system in WREGIS.
  • This program does not jeopardize any of your current rebates or Net Metering Agreement with SDG&E.
  • The system owner maintains the ownership rights of their RECs.
  • Leaf Exchange will charge a $3 per REC transaction fee if/when you sell.

Recent price indications on the value of California RECs are in the $20 per REC range, which would translate into $200 of annual income for an average sized 5kW solar system that produces about 10 RECs annually. Over 5,000 solar system owners have recognized this potential and have already gotten registered in WREGIS. We encourage you to get registered now, because you do not start creating RECs until your system is certified by WREGIS.

Email or Contact us or you may go directly to the leafexchange.com to get registered.

Energy facts, news and things you can do to be green.

  • Bring old electronics-including DVD players, flat-panel TV's and computers (no matter what brand)-to any Best Buy Store, and their recycling partners will salvage them for free (there's a $10 charge for TV's and monitors in some areas, but you'll get a $10 store credit). Visit bestbuys.com/recycling to get a state-by-state listing of items they'll accept.

  • Pledge to give your old cell phone to plantmyphone.com. Just pop it into the prepaid mailing envelope provided. Once they receive your old phone, they'll sell the recycled material and use the proceeds to plant trees.

  • Put your house on an energy diet at earthaid.net, a free site that tracks your utility bills to see how much energy your home wastes. The site also suggests ways to improve energy efficiency, such as adding door draft guards to prevent heat loss or doing laundry at night to reduce the demand on power facilities during peak hours.

  • Find a car wash that participates in the waterSavers program at carwash.org. A professional car wash can use up to 80 gallons of water per car, but companies that are part of this program recycle their water and must use half that amount.

  • Choose UPS's carbon-neutral shipping option when you send a package. For less than a dollar extra, UPS offsets the emissions produced by your shipment by investing that money in reforestation programs, wastewater treatment facilities and landfill gas destruction, Visit ups.com/carbonneutral for details.
